It becomes the sole routing protocol for all cross-chain transactions. You create a single point of failure—not just for hacks, but for narrative manipulation. If 'the market' sees one giant pool draining, it sends a panic signal across all chains. With fragmented pockets, the narrative is messier, but it is also more honest, allowing for localized stress without triggering systemic panic. Centralizing chaos doesn't reduce chaos; it just makes it more vulnerable to a single, catastrophic trigger.

The argument that 'liquidity fragmentation is a problem' is a narrative signature of the old guard trying to impose the old order onto a new, polycentric reality. History repeats, but the narrative changes. In 2017, we feared exchange fragmentation—many thought the rise of dozens of altcoin exchanges would kill the market. Instead, it created arbitrage and arbitrage brought millions of new speculators. In 2020, we feared yield farming forks would kill the moats of DeFi leaders.
