Let me be clear about what I'm seeing from my side of the stack. The market is pricing a stagflationary shock. The yield curve is steepening not because growth expectations are rising, but because the market is demanding a higher premium to hold long-duration paper in a world where the US government is weaponizing trade policy against both friends and adversaries. This is not a demand shock. It's a supply-side assault on the global economy, and its consequences will flow through every layer of the crypto stack — from the cost of sequencer operations to the viability of DeFi's lending protocols.
Here's the part the macro commentators miss: this is not a crypto story yet. But it will be. The transmission mechanism is slower than a stock index future, but it is far more structural. The cost of that data posting is denominated in ETH, but the cost of running the sequencer itself — the servers, the monitoring, the fraud proof infrastructure — is denominated in dollars. The same public opposition that is targeting AI data centers will eventually target crypto mining and proving infrastructure. Energy consumption is becoming a political issue.
